Getting regular exercise is on of the most important things that you can do to get and keep yourself healthy. Exercising regularly has been shown to help prevent many health problems including: obesity, high blood pressure, depression, and diabetes. Also exercising will help you to build muscle and strengthen your heart and lungs. No matter what your age is, physical activity can help you to live a much healthier life. You may even want to find a friend that will work out with you.
The first step is to choose a work-out plan. This is a plan of what exercises you want to do, how much of it you are going to do, and which days you are going to do different exercises. If you have any health problems it may be a good idea to talk to your doctor about what to include in or leave out of your work-out plan. It is a good idea to switch your exercises around to give different muscles time to recover. For example you could run one day and then lift weights the next. Once your body gets more used to the exercises you can increase how often you do them.
There are three main types of exercises, they are stretching exercises, aerobic exercises, and strengthening exercises. Stretching exercises stretch and loosen your muscles and should always be done before doing any other exercises to help prevent injuries. Stretches should should be done slowly and go a little bit past what is comfortable and then held for a few seconds. Aerobic exercise are meant to increase your endurance and strengthen your heart and lungs. Some examples of aerobic exercise are walking, running, or swimming. Strengthening exercises are meant to tone and strengthen your muscles. Lifting weights, doing push-ups, and doing sit-ups are a few examples of strengthening exercises. You will need to look at your goals and decide what type of exercises are right for you.
